Physical Description
Hardystonite, calcite, willemite. Reddish-brown mineral is labeled vesuvianite and probably is. This mineral is labeled as containing large amounts of beryllium (the so-called “Be-vesuvianite”), but modern analyses to date have not yet confirmed the earlier reports of as much as 9.2 wt. % Be, showing instead less than 4 wt. % of that element. For such a light element, however, a content of 4 wt. % is noteworthy in terms of atom %.
