Phlogopite, large intergrown well-formed crystals. The Franklin area is a world-famous locality for the species. Specimens showing large crystals were recovered in moderate abundance from the local quarries but are now uncommon on the market. Fine specimens from Franklin are among the world’s best, with large crystals of classic form, some of them showing impressive transparency when viewed parallel to the cleavage.
