Physical Description
Labeled smithsonite, but probably calcite. A nice example with larger than normal hemispherules. Smithsonite is rare at Franklin, and proven specimens are few. This is something of a mystery, given that the components of smithsonite (ZnCO3) are present in the local area by the millions of tons, and both Franklin and Sterling Hill possessed a “gossan cap.”
