Type locality for marsturite
Physical Description
Axinite-Mn forms a crust of radiating orange blade-like crystals on and interspersed with 4 mm euhedral tabular pink bustamite/rhodonite crystals. The bustamite/rhodonite crystals are partially rimmed by an epitaxial growth of light brown marsturite. Several 2-4 mm transparent willemite crystals and clusters of dark brown ganophyllite are also dispersed through the axinite-Mn crust. These minerals form a several mm thick crust on the surface of foliated high-grade zinc ore (franklinite, willemite). The specimen measures approximately 14 x 14 x 8 cm.
